Kai has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours in Law and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the University of Tasmania. He is admitted to the Supreme Court of Tasmania and the High Court of Australia.
In 2014, Kai joined Douglas & Collins and has a general commercial practice. He is experienced in advising clients on a variety of commercial and property law matters, including:
Property use and development, including easements, subdivisions and applications to the Land Titles Office;
Commercial and residential conveyancing;
Loan documentation, mortgages and security arrangements;
Business acquisitions and disposals;
Business structures, including companies, trusts and partnerships;
Governance, including advising charities, not-for-profits and statutory authorities regarding their constitutions and governing documents, and compliance with legislative requirements;
General contract drafting and advice; and
Wills and estates.
With a background in agriculture, Kai has a particular interest in primary industries and regularly assists clients with a range of matters concerning agriculture, forestry, mining and fisheries. Outside of work, Kai is a member of the Board of Tasdance.
